Langton Way

Location: Blackheath, London

Year: 2011-2012
Client: Indigo Bridge
Project Status: Built
Budget: £1.6m

The project at Langton Way is the result of a selective and complex design process for the successful approval and construction of these two, Code 4, high end residences.

Located next to Grade II listed ‘Captain’s Houses’ on Blackheath the inclusion of these two eco-homes, effectively in two back gardens, is the result of rigorous design selection and pragmatic negotiations with the local authority.

Two 4 bedroom houses have been designed to provide large quantities of natural daylight to the main living areas. The open staircase with the side window and roof light ensures a feeling of being constantly in touch with the external environment.

Photovoltaic panels, a sedum roof and impressive U-Values to the wall construction ensure that the two buildings are responsive to their environment in more ways than one.

With the use of external materials sensitive to their sub-urban surroundings the two residences have sought to successfully integrate themselves into the ‘homes’ of the local context of Langton Way.
